Punch needle is embroidery technique which uses a hollow needle to loop wool, thread or ribbon through fabric to create a pattern or design.
Use the Punch Needle tool to punch through the fabric, the tool forms a loop of thread on the underneath of the fabric which is held in place with the tension of the fabric weave and unlike traditional embroidery pieces, the underneath or back of a Punch needle design is actually the front!
Punch needle tools come in different sizes to accommodate different widths and types of thread, a small size would be used for embroidery thread or cotton and a larger size for wool.
