The Happy Cross Stitcher is a family run business that was first opened in 2002 in Keighley, West Yorkshire by Keith and Margaret Newton in the form of a shop and website. Keith and Margaret decided to retire and closed the Keighley shop and I took over the business in January 2005, which is now based in Darlington, County Durham.
Since taking over The Happy Cross Stitcher I have expanded the stock range, adding more manufacturers and different crafts as I went along.
In January 2008 I bought Russell House Tapestries, closely followed by Daisy Designs in June as I wanted to add a manufacturing string to my bow. Both companies were successful and have since passed into different hands.
In 2010 I created Rainy Day Designs, my own brand of designs ranging from simple cross stitch cards kits to Premium Collection cross stitch chart packs.
Danielle's Ofiss materialised in 2013, thanks to a hand written sign sellotaped to my office door by my then five year old niece Robyn. This became the name for a collection of hand crafted items by yours truly which includes crochet, embroidery, frosted glass and Christmas Decorations, lovely gifts for all occasions.
Both Danielle's Ofiss and Rainy Day Designs are now part of September Cottage Crafts.
