Fabric Preparation

Posted by Danielle Hardy on

Fabric Preparation 1. Press the fabric to remove any creases. Turn under 0.5cm on each edge and tack to prevent fraying. Roll, rather than fold the fabric when it is not being stitched to prevent further creasing. 2. Sort your threads by following the key provided with your chart or kit. If two colours are similar, they may be identified by counting the number of lengths in each colour. Write each code number against a hole in the thread organiser and thread the appropriate lengths through the hole. You may need more than one hole where there are more than...

How to Start Stitching

How to Start Stitching If you are using a kit take out all the components and check them off against the contents list, if necessary sort out the threads and label them, Decide if you are using a hoop or frame for the project and don't forget to wash your hands before handling the fabric as this helps to prevent the fabric from becoming dirty or stained. I actually feel like I would like to go and...

Not that I am complaining about the hot weather, but us Brits complain about the weather regardless, so it doesn’t count! I am also partaking in another Great British tradition, Tea and Biscuits, although I appear to have run on of biscuits and all stitchers know, you cannot cross stitch without tea and biscuits, it is against the law, so a trip to the shop it is. Hmm, Custard Creams or Hob Nobs…………………………………………………… Meanwhile in cross stitch land a lovely little printed cross...
